How does the live bridge feel to the caller?

What is the latency between me speaking and the caller hearing?

Under 2 seconds in both directions for conversational speech. Forge's real-time translation stack streams your audio through speech recognition, translation, and voice output in parallel rather than waiting for you to finish a sentence, so the caller hears your reply almost as you finish saying it.

Can I use my existing phone number?

Yes. Most customers port their main business line or set up call forwarding from their existing number to the bridge. The caller dials the number they already have, the bridge answers, and the bridged leg rings your cell or office phone. Nothing changes on the customer-facing side.

What happens if the AI cannot understand a dialect?

If the engine is not confident about what the caller said, it asks them to repeat or rephrase in the same language, the same way a human interpreter would. Every call is monitored for confidence drops and, on Regional and Agency tiers, low-confidence calls can be auto-escalated to a live human interpreter without the caller having to hang up and call back.

Is the translation stored anywhere?

Yes. Transcripts in both the caller's language and English are saved to your account and, if configured, pushed to your CRM. Recordings and transcripts are encrypted at rest and scoped to your business only. You can set a retention period and purge older calls on a schedule that fits your state's requirements.

Can I hand off to a human interpreter if the call gets complex?

Yes. On Regional and Agency you can press a single keypad code during the bridge to bring a human interpreter on the line for the rest of the call. The AI stays active in the background so the transcript never breaks, and the human takes over the live translation for the nuanced part of the conversation.
